The American Drama Group tours throughout Europe with regular and frequent stops in Munich. All actors are native English speakers. The English Drama Group is a student organization that has been performing a play in English every semester for over 30 years at the Department of English and American Studies. The actors are Munich students, and the director is a faculty member of the English department. Entity Theatre e.V. is a nonprofit English-language theater ensemble based in Munich for over 20 years. Entity Theatre is run by a group of volunteers. Members from around the world share a passion for good storytelling and the artistic vision for theater that engages, entertains, questions, provokes, and sometimes pushes boundaries. Their theatrical work includes plays, workshops, readings, and theater festivals.
Bake This - Improvisationstheater
Bake This is Munich's international English improvisational comedy troupe. Since 2011, they have been regularly performing a form of theater in which scenes are improvised or not rehearsed in advance, with the help of suggestions from the audience. The performers take the stage without knowing what will happen. Bake This is known for their completely improvised musicals, among other formats.
East & West Encounter (EWE) is an English-language theater group based in Munich, Germany. The roots of the two founders come from the East (India) and the West (France). EWE aims to bring together non-professional actors, directors, stage artists, and technicians who share a similar passion for contemporary theater. Their goal is also to produce plays that promote new and diverse voices.
There are also several theaters in Munich that regularly perform plays in English alongside their German-language programs.
The Münchner Kammerspiele is one of the most important stages in the German-speaking world and describes itself as an aesthetically innovative, contemporary, and cosmopolitan city theater with a socio-political focus. For several years, they have offered some theater productions with English subtitles.
The Deutsche Theater in Munich offers international musicals and shows as well as concerts, cabaret, and has hosted some of the world's biggest artists. Many of their performances are presented in English.
