Cambridge English Young Learners

Cambridge English Young Learners is a series of engaging English exams for primary school children. They provide a first experience with test situations, where all candidates receive a certificate, boosting their motivation and confidence.

The exams are based on extensive research and support a successful transition to more advanced English exams. They cover all essential language skills: listening, reading, and both spoken and written expression. The exams consist of three levels, all focused on everyday English.

Levels

PRE A1 STARTERS

Pre A1 Starters is the first level of the Cambridge English Young Learners exams, designed for children aged 7 to 12. It provides a playful introduction to everyday English and encourages children to build confidence in speaking English. Focusing on basic language skills, this exam offers an initial, successful learning experience. All children receive a certificate documenting their achievements, and no one can fail.

A1 MOVERS

A1 Movers is the next level, helping children further develop their English skills. The exam focuses on everyday topics and encourages children to communicate confidently in English. It provides a reliable assessment of their language abilities and helps expand their communication skills.

A2 FLYERS

A2 Flyers is the highest level of the Young Learners exams, aimed at children who have a stronger command of everyday English. This exam tests more advanced language skills and boosts children's confidence in expressing themselves in English.

In the Young Learners exams, there is no pass or fail. All children receive a certificate showing the number of "badges" (up to five) they earned for each part of the test. Here is a sample certificate for viewing or downloading.
